Caleb just accepts it, no defensiveness or questioning, just an offhanded agreement that annoys her more than it reassures. It doesn't feel quite fair to react that way to something so small, but for a moment Rosie wonders if he's really understood how deeply she means what she's said. It might be that he can't; he doesn't know Neil as well as she does, not yet, and even with his ability Rosie doubts Caleb could know the extent of all the things Rosie's come to learn about what Neil's lost. Here, and back home.

"Then tell me you promise," she says. "Don't just say yeah, of course like it's nothing."
