"Okay," Caleb says. He sets his sandwich down and looks at her levelly. "What are you doing?" The innocence on her face is accompanied by a playful sort of panic, and Caleb points at her, semi-sternly. "I know how friendships work, and you've been this weird mix of curious-hopeful-excited since you asked me to come to lunch with you." Which he's already acknowledged as strange, in itself. "What's going on?"
